Imelda May has been tapped to sing Amhrán na bhFiann at McGregor's fight after a frantic last minute search
EARLIER THIS WEEK, it was announced that Demi Lovato would be singing the US national anthem at tonight’s fight between Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather.
And now it’s been revealed that Conor McGregor has enlisted none other than Dublin’s own Imelda May to sing Amhrán na bhFiann at tonight’s fight.
May confirmed the news on Twitter last night and was understandably quite excited at the prospect of performing at the sporting event of the year.
May had been due to perform at Down On The Close, a festival in Rugby, UK, but cancelled at the last minute to accept McGregor’s offer.
The festival announced May’s cancellation last night and stated that they were exploring “the legal position and factors surrounding this news”.

For her part, May explained that she had “just been offered a once in a lifetime opportunity that I can’t turn down” and stated that she hoped fans would understand her decision.
Here in Ireland, people are only delighted for Imelda.

He revealed that he reached out to heavy hitters like Bono, but to no avail.
Bono’s loss is Imelda’s gain, wha’?
